Ms Ma is a Chinese fashion designer and the founder of an haute couture fashion brand. Ma studied art history for three years in Paris, followed by one year in stylisme. Ma began her career as an independent designer. In 2001, at 23, she presented her first collection with the help of her husband. In 2005, she opened the first MARY.YAN&YU shop in Shenzhen. That year, she also launched "MARY.YAN&YU" which is her own label. Miss Ma is inspired by real life, the spirit of time and whatever she observed when she walks in Shenzhen. She defines her design style: “ My designs are simple. Outfits with trousers and not spectacular dresses that I could make… But no, I don’t want “my” women to dream, I just want her to imagine herself wearing my clothes”, thus referring to a wearable wardrobe.
